Going to the retreats revealed to me that my spirit was on life support and that I was far from God. What I love about the prayer retreats is how it removes distractions and silences the noise, therefore, allowing me to accurately assess my walk with God and truly begin the journey of taking ownership of my faith. The prayer retreat taught me that I need to do my own reading and seek personal revelation. I do not always require a pastor, a worship band, or the next big conference to grow closer to God.
The verse I am focusing on is 1 Peter 3:15: “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect.” This verse challenges me to define the reason for my hope, seek evidence of Christ’s resurrection, and be assured in my faith—so that I can share it with others, kindly and confidently.
If you are thinking about attending, I encourage you to take the leap of faith. The Lord is moving and doing great things. Invest in yourself, carve out space to hear from Him, and be encouraged.
