This retreat is an invitation to come away and encounter the Lord who is Peace, YHWH Shalom. In a world that is weary, hurried, and heavy, we will make space to draw near to the God who promises rest, renewal, and perfect peace. Yet, we acknowledge that peace is not always immediately felt, it is often contended for, cultivated, and chosen in the midst of inner unrest.
Rooted in Scripture and stillness, this retreat will guide us to the quiet waters of God’s presence, not bypassing the struggle, but meeting Him in it and overcoming it. We will reflect on His invitation: “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Together, we will worship, pray, and listen, learning to receive a rest that doesn’t deny our burdens, but transforms them in The Presence of the One who carries us.
As we step aside from the noise, we will wrestle with what it means to trust, to be still, and to delight in Him. We will explore how to wait well, walk lightly, and carry His peace even when the world around us attempts to pull in every other direction.
Come, not to strive, but to surrender. Not to perform, but to be held. This is Holy rest, peace pursued, peace received, peace lived.
Labour…to…rest. Heb. 4:11
So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The-Lord-Is-Peace (YHWH Shalom). To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites Judges 6:24
And He said “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matt.11:28
There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Hebrews 4:9
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Hebrews 4:11
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters and you who have no money. Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk. Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah 55:1-2
And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” Mark 6:31
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:6-7
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him. Psalm 62:1
